As this is our first blog post concerning development of the RPG WorldBuilder app for Android, we would like to give a brief overview of the app and our goals in creating it. The RPG WorldBuilder app is designed for tabletop roleplayers, map makers, gamers, players, GMs, and anyone else who is interested in making fantasy overworld and dungeon maps. The RPG WorldBuilder is system neutral and can be used with any tabletop RPG. Originally the concept started off as a simple deck of Dungeon and World Architect Cards for mobile devices. That quickly changed into a much more robust app that will feature procedural overworld and dungeon generation, custom map making, digital DAC/WAC decks, editable map information such as weather, descriptors, traps, encounters, treasure, and more. Our goal was to create a simple, easy to use app for mobile devices so anyone could easily create maps for their favorite tabletop games. Here is a video of the app in action... So where are we in the development of the app? We have been working on this project for close to a year now. We have the major elements of the app up and working and are fine-tuning and adding additional features. Each week from here on out, we will be posting an development updates for the RPG WorldBuilder and where we are in the process. We plan to release this app via Kickstarter and then through the Google Play Store. The RPG WorldBuilder has been designed to be modular so new tiles, information, maps, and other data can be added. The flexible nature of the app's design will also allow us to increase tile types and create custom adventures with special tile sets. For now however, our goal is to complete the core app and make it public.
We hope you will join us as we near the completion of this unique tool. If you would like to join us in this journey, be sure to sign up for our mailing list! Thanks RPG WorldBuilder Dev Team
