This week I wanted to give a comprehensive look at everything we intend to include in the RPG WorldBuilder app. These features are to be included in the base version of the app. I say base version because we fully intend to create add-on packs of overworld tiles, dungeon tiles, items, extra cards, etc. The design of the base app was created with these future, expandable features in mind.

WAC Card Deck
  • 54 Cards
  • Random descriptors (so each time a deck is generated, the descriptors on each card are different).
  • Weather Icons (so each time a deck is generated, the weather icons are different).

DAC Card Deck
  • 54 Cards
  • Random descriptors (so each time a deck is generate, the descriptors on each card are different).

Overworld Map Generator (OMG)
  • Biome Specific Maps. The OMG has perimeters that allow the user to create specific maps based on various biomes (like a desert biome or forest biome). These biome specific maps only generate certain map tiles related to the particular biome.
  • All Tile Map. This is a map option that does not limit tiles based on biomes.
  • Blank Map. This creates a blank map that the user can choose specific tiles for – thus creating a map from scratch.
  • Swapping Tiles. All map types tiles can be swapped out from a list of available tiles – this allows the user to change up any part of the overworld map with a tile they want.
  • Linking Locations. This allows the user to link locations to a specific tile (like being able to link a ruins to a mountain, and then a dungeon to those ruins).
  • Linking Items and Encounters. This allows the user to link items and encounters to a specific tile (like being able to a link a treasure to a dungeon room, or a monster to a dungeon room).

Dungeon Map Generator (DMG)
  • Random Dungeon Generator. This allows the user to set perimeters and create a procedurally generated dungeon map.
  • Blank Dungeon Map. This creates a blank map that the user can choose specific tiles for – thus creating a map from scratch.
  • Symmetrical Map Generator. This mirrors a map either horizontally or vertically to make it symmetrical (like a building would be).
  • Swapping Tiles. All map types tiles can be swapped out from a list of available tiles – this allows the user to change up any part of the dungeon map with a tile they want.
  • Linking Locations. This allows the user to link locations to a specific tile. Like making multiple dungeon levels?
  • Linking Items and Encounters. This allows the user to link items and encounters to a specific tile (like being able to a link a treasure to a dungeon room, or a monster to a dungeon room).
